Autumn Release likely For The New iPhone 5

0
The iPhone 4 from Apple has been labelled as the best smartphone ever produced thanks to a great combination of high screen quality, fast processor speed and the simplicity of the excellent iPhone operating system. This model may have to surrender its crown very soon as the launch of the new iPhone 5 is imminent. So when can we expect to see this new model hit the shelves? We look at the rumors doing the rounds that seem to suggest that we can welcome the newcomer before the year is over.

There is no official launch date for this new model but many reports seem to indicate that we could well be looking at a September 2011 release. The fact that the price of the iPhone 4 was slashed in August helps to reinforce this prediction as does the fact that O2 have scaled back their stock of the iPhone 4 in preparation for the release of this new model. Speculation about the launch of this new model can be traced back as far as May 2011. It was in this month that Pegatron, the firm responsible for building Apple components, allegedly received an order to produce 15 million new handsets for an anticipated Autumn launch date. Three months down the line in July Apple themselves confirmed that there would be a new phone present in the marketplace in the third quarter of this year. When asked about activity happening in the third quarter of 2011 Peter Oppenheimer, Apples chief financial officer, responded 'there is a lot going on in the fall with iOS 5 and iCloud' but added there will be a 'future product transition that we will not talk about today'. To add further fuel to the fire it was reported that Apple are hiring more staff for the month of September and that US network AT&T have banned staff from taking annual leave during this month. In contrast to these above reports it was quite recently stated that the launch may be delayed to allow the phone to incorporate Apples new A6 processor chip which is still in production.

There is another strong indication that we may be looking at a September release date for the iPhone 5as this is the month that Apple are set to debut their much hyped iOS5 operating system. The manufacturers will be keen to launch the two products at the same time as the new OS feature many improvements that they will be eager to show on their newest handset. Much of the impact of iOS5 may be lost if iPhone 4 users are running the platform weeks before the new phone arrives. One of the major improvements that is offered by iOS5 is a new notifications centre which gathers all of the users notifications and alerts in one place. This centre can be accessed by swiping downwards on the homescreen. Other new features are set to include the new iCloud remote storage system and enhanced photo editing features.

Whenever Apple decide to launch this new handset there will undoubtedly be unprecedented level of demand. Fans of Apple will be at the front of the line but smartphone followers in general are likely to be eager to get their hands on a phone that may well prove to be the best ever released.

The iPhone 5 and the Blackberry Torch 9860 are coming soon.

Unlocking the online and mobile secrets to home buying and selling

0

(ARA) - High-tech know-how can help you find a house or get rid of one.

"The last five years have seen a massive shift in consumer behavior, which has driven Realtors and other real estate professionals to embrace websites, social media and online videos," says Mark Flavin, director of information technology at Bay East Association of Realtors in Pleasanton, Calif., and winner of a 2010 Realtor Technology Spotlight Award.

While online listings serve as the starting point for many house hunters, a recent survey from financial services provider USAA reports that about one in five respondents would use smartphones to take photos while looking for a home. About the same number say they've already used mobile Internet service to search for a home or mortgage information. Flavin expects searches to begin with mobile devices more often in coming years.

Tools of the trade

If you're one of the 40 million Americans who typically move in a year, here are six technology trends in real estate, and ways you can use them to your benefit.

* Comprehensive online listings

With popular sites such as Realtor.com and Zillow.com, buyers can research homes for sale and sellers can advertise their listings to a national audience. One site, USAA's Home Circle, even offers rental listings for those who are not ready to buy a home. "Consumers have access to a picture of the market 24/7," says Flavin.

* Automated paperwork and cloud storage

E-signing, or electronic signature, on an iPad or smartphone, will soon become commonplace for mortgage and closing documents, predicts Brad Nix, a real estate broker in the Atlanta area and another 2010 Realtor Technology Spotlight Award winner. The U.S. lags behind other countries in e-signature use, but it will greatly improve commerce, says Stephen Ezell of the Information Technology & Innovation Foundation in Washington, D.C.

The rise in cloud computing - housing data off-site instead of in on-site hard drives - also will play a major role in real estate. "Tech-savvy real estate brokers and pros can help you create a virtual folder that gives all parties access to the sales contract, inspection report, appraisal, insurance documents and closing documents," says Nix.

* Mobile apps

"Buyers want real-time access to what's on the market based on where they've parked their car," says Nix. Smartphone apps do that now, but what's new is their growing use. And sellers benefit, too, attracting traffic not just with a "For Sale" sign, but with a mobile, media-rich listing that just might lure people down the street and across the threshold.

* Online videos

Videos help showcase homes and communities on an emotional level. "They sell more than just four walls," says Nix. "They sell a lifestyle." Video style can range from simple, man-on-the-street shots to a full-scale production.

* More data

"The key difference today is access to information," notes Ezell, who's selling his D.C.-area home with his wife, Lisa. Lisa recommends community blogs and sites such as Curbed.com for local insights. She still looks to agents, though, when online information is limited or inconsistent. In D.C., for instance, Ezell says buyers can only access property tax figures online back to 1998; if they're interested in a 20-year-old home, they're out of luck. Government agencies are working to digitize records and make online data more complete.

* Social media

Social media connects buyers with local residents, as it did for Sandee Payne, USAA's Home Circle spokesperson, when she moved to Killeen. She connected with a friend via social media to get the inside information. "The level of detail available through social media is only going to grow," says Flavin. "If you go to Netflix today, you can see the most popular movies in your local community." Similarly, community opinions and advice will influence future generations of homebuyers. Real estate agents are also experimenting with blogs, and some post listings on their business Facebook pages, where buyers and sellers can become fans - just another way to pass along or view listings.

Questions to ask your agent

Flavin believes it's essential for today's buyers and sellers to partner with tech-savvy real estate agents. He suggests asking your agent these questions:

* What's your mobile strategy for selling my home or helping me find one?

* Are you able to track website traffic to my listing?

* Are you able to promote my community and my property through video services?

* Can you help me navigate these new, technological tools?

MOTOROLA XOOM Android Tablet is a lot like chess

0
When I arrived Xoom about a week ago I turned it on and I was not really blown away. I use a lot of material, and my first impression of Xoom just was not stellar. But I could see the potential, so I continued to use it, I have a few applications, I began to learn the interface and depth characteristics.

At some point during day 2 of using Xoom it really hit me. Xoom and the IPAD is like chess. When you start playing chess (or attempting to use Xoom to my analogy) you feel overwhelmed and confused. You can not really make things easy, you do not understand the options, it is simply not a good first impression. On the other hand, your first game of checkers (or the use of IPAD) is likely to be fairly smooth. It is not complicated, most of all the options and the terms are clear and easy to understand and your first game will be close enough to your hundredth.

But when you begin to understand Xoom (and failures), it really starts to grow on you. You see what you can do, how, incredible depth and capacity of the unit. Although IPAD (or woman) players still have a lot of experience itself again and again, with the daily experience of Xoom makes the device more powerful and enjoyable to use. Ultimately, Xoom a much better product than any of its competitors, just a little time for you to learn what it is and how to get the most out of it.

As you can see from the last three paragraphs, I was not really impressed by Xoom to start. I was not even sure it would replace my current unit for the most part. But in two days, I began to really "get" the device.

What happened when I needed to review and comment on someone sent me a PDF. I downloaded it from my e-mail, and could even put it in the memory Xoom wherever I wanted in the folder where I wanted. Wow, that's really cool, can not do it in competition. Then I could open it in a PDF reader, with this fancy software (which I found easily on the market). I went through and did what I needed (with a superb tool freehand drawing, it was a kick!), So I jumped back on e-mail address, attached PDF edited and sent. Now, maybe I never tried hard enough, but I do not think it is possible for some of the competition. The freedom to download files, do whatever you need, and send them again. IPad on applications I used, it still requires the files to be in something that Dropbox, which is fine, except he would have done what I did is impossible without the aid of a computer .

Another "wow" moment came when I wanted to get ebooks on the device. Now, on my Apple products, it is usually a pain, you connect the camera to your computer, go to Open iTunes, go to a particular tab, and a specific area, and a certain function, and if you do it well, you can drag your books on the reader. It was fairly simple to Xoom. For e-books I had on my computer I just drop them in the Dovecote, when I have them on Xoom, and with the help of file manager Xoom I can easily move to a new "Books" I made folder in the Documents folder. Fast, easy, fast and makes the unit rather than on the PC.

But what blew me away was when I wanted books from the Web. Using the regular browser, I could download from the Internet directly to the device. I then used the File Manager again and just move them to the appropriate folder. This really does not impress me, my tablet disconnected from the computer, I could surf the entire web, download stuff and then use them all without ever having to attach to my computer. I was hooked.

With my new power which does not require my computer to use my tablet I delete a Android App Development Forum. This developer has posted a bunch of programs that have been cool in beta, or wanted to promote. On competing aircraft, the only way to get an application is sanctioned and controlled by gate, not on Android (and Xoom). Xoom use the browser, I bounce off the forum, I downloaded the beta program, and then I could easily install them. Again, this is all about the device, and these applications were not approved, impressive.

Another example of something that impressed me is on my third day with the device. I was with CNN app (which is free and optimized tablet, go check it) and I saw a video of a story I found really interesting, but it was one of those who are just teaser and the rest are on another site. When I found these videos on my iPad I just try to remember to watch later on a computer, as they inevitably flash based. Not so with Xoom, I typed in the address, the flash at full load, and I watched the video in full screen without problems.

This growth process more comfortable with the team and learn what he could do in these last days. At every turn, I find something amazing that it was not possible for competitors tablets. I discovered the glory of widgets (small things custom desktop to display the weather or the news or otherwise). I found a wallpaper line (mobile animated wallpapers that can change and adapt to things like weather). I kept finding new features and uses.

One thing I am talking about is perhaps more technical than the rest of my opinion is the screen. I use my tablet for reading, I started to use e-books a while ago and I found the tablets that it works well for her. I do most of my reading at night before bed, so the screen backlight is actually good compared to a traditional reader. Anyway, is one of the things that has always bothered me about the eReader IPAD as the pixel density (which is the number of pixels (blocks or squares of color) in each inch of screen space) is very low. IPAD has somewhere around 130PPI (pixels per inch). He was so weak that it really gave me eyestrain significant to read the disc, I could see the pixels, and it was not really just a great reading experience. This was so pronounced that the last month I had actually done most of my reading on a fourth-generation iPod Touch. It has a smaller screen but higher resolution.

Anyway, Xoom has a significant increase in resolution and pixel density. With its higher resolution pixels that has about 33% more than the IPAD, about 300,000 more pixels. It's something you can immediately see if you look at any text. It is much smoother and easier to read on Xoom. But on the other side of the iPad has a display type, which has better viewing angles and color and contrast. In my case, I do not really care, I find the pixel density is 1000 times more important than small improvements in color or angles, but I think I should talk about it.

My point in these last two paragraphs is that Xoom is a much better device to display text in one of the lower resolution of the competition. If you are looking for a shelf to read your newspaper and books and websites, then you definitely should give Xoom or tablets to higher resolution at a glance. In my opinion, the resolution on the IPAD / IPAD 2 is not the case for text.

Welp, it's really a long drawn out, so I guess I should conclude. I know it's not like the usual read, but I really wanted to give people an idea of the experience of using Xoom cons just give facts and distribution and comparisons. The Xoom is a device that improves exponentially the more you use it. After several days of use, I really can not imagine returning to the limitations and frustrations of the competition. But on my first day I was not very impressed, so be sure to stay with her and get used to. Now, I go to dinner with me and I'll take my Xoom, streaming video, thanks to the wonderful introduction of the flash, the competition will remain on the board (likely in the foreseeable future).

I would just mention that I give Xoom four stars because it is not perfect. For reference, after using Xoom I'd probably give IPAD / 2:03 pm IPAD stars. There are still improvements that can be done with tablets. I really feel like Android and Xoom are on track, but it is still not what I would call a perfect pill is simply the best that is available now (for my usage).

I hope someone will find my review helpful, please feel free to ask any questions you may have in the comments.
